Khushi, whose father runs a small mobile repair shop in the village, started going to her local college after passing 12th grade. But, destiny has something else written. One day, on her way to college, Khushi received a message stating that she has successfully passed the selection test organized by Guru Gobind Singh Refinery and has been selected among top 100 students.
Guru Gobind Singh Refinery organizes a Super 100 programme every year for underprivileged students who are then selected on the basis of merit and are provided with free coaching, accommodation, food and other facilities.
“While studying in a government school, I never imagined I would get an opportunity to study at an institution like IIT. After being selected for the Super 100 programme, I took a gap year and went to Delhi for 11 months for residential coaching and cracked the exam. The refinery funded my stay, food, and tuition fees. Now, I am studying at ITI Guwahati. My father had a dream that I should become an engineer. Now, I am in a position to become one,” said Khushi.
Now Khushi is pursuing Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
